Acid Girls

By Karey in Fashion, Motion

Acid Girls - Lightworks from IHEARTCOMIX Records on Vimeo.

Stumbled across this video over at Susie Bubble and loved the forward and rewind editing. Nicely shot and styled with a perfect blend of historical and contemporary, and don't forget the amazingly fun looking food fight.

Flightpattern by Gwen Vanhee

By Karey in ActionScript, Generative, Motion

ActionScript 3.0 in action in this incredible handdrawn audio responsive video exploration by Gwen Vanhee. To build Flightpattern, Vahnee used a custom-coded brush in AS3 to draw the imagery which is essentially a particle system that responds to movement, speed, rotation, mouse gestures, audio frequencies, etc. The particle system is attached to the mouse and used as Vanhee's 'brush'. Therefore the imagery is a code reaction to mouse gestures. During 'drawing' he recorded the data and rendered it frame by frame afterwards. Changing the audio would give a slightly different result with the same general look and feel.

Also check out Gwen Vanhee's photostream.

Fingerprints by Anatoly Zenkov

By Karey in ActionScript, Motion, Resource

Interesting experiment by Anatoly Zenkov using ActionScript 3.0 and Perlin noise. View his source code. Speaking of which, how did I now only discover wonderfl (free service where you can build Flash(swf) online)???

Side note: Free Perlin noise class for AS3.0 from Sjeiti.

3D Eye by Conor Lawless

By Karey in Computer Graphics, Motion

While the following video is a bit creepy and shall I say gross (?), I still strongly recommend checking out the work of biomathematician and programmer Conor Lawless. Not quite sure how or why he made the 3D Eye but found a brief description in which he says, 'I created a 3-dimensional surface from the pixel intensities in each frame, and mapped the original pixel colours onto the surface.' Hmmm . . . .

Check out Conor's website, blog, and videos.
