I don't know which is better, the final version or making of Nuit Blanche by Spy Films. Beautiful.

Digging the work of digital creative Bernat Fortet. Most of his work focusing on CG and Graphic Design, though I prefer his Flash experiments and photography (an example of each below). Be sure to check out the independent NodalGenesis project site to test out Bernat's interactive generative Flash artwork.

Came across this great experiment with displacement by Matt Cinque in Cinema 4d the other day.

While the following video is a bit creepy and shall I say gross (?), I still strongly recommend checking out the work of biomathematician and programmer Conor Lawless. Not quite sure how or why he made the 3D Eye but found a brief description in which he says, 'I created a 3-dimensional surface from the pixel intensities in each frame, and mapped the original pixel colours onto the surface.' Hmmm . . . .
Check out Conor's website, blog, and videos.
Beautifully built animation of the bullet implementation by Jesse Erickson using Houdini 3D animation package and Voronoi Fracture Asset. Not quite sure I under stand the physics involved, much less how to use the software; but I definitely appreciate Jesse's work. All his video's on Vimeo are worth checking out, but a couple more of my favorites include Fur vs. Smoke and Fluid Junk.

Motion designer and video artist Maxim Zhestkov finds inspiration in a variety of fields - nature, fashion, technology, architecture, and space - to create the spaces of his imagination and mesmerizing fantasies. Apparently he browses Wikipedia for inspiration and advocates bringing together incompatible elements, "as in a dream." Maxim also does NOT believe in time management, saying it can interrupt the aesthetic of surprise, and often finds himself working after being awake for 48 hours to encourage a different perspective and feeling of his environment.

WOW. Everything you thought was possible and more in CG. A full CG animated piece illustrating architecture as art through the photograph and filming of existing spaces. Don't let the description confuse you though, by 'existing spaces' I mean built architecture modeled in 3ds Max. Creator Alex Roman states 'I think i must make it clear. There are a few non-CG elements in the shortfilm: photographer (shot on greenscreen), pigeons, timelapsed growing flowers, flying airplane and sky backgrounds."
BEAUTIFUL. MUST watch in full screen, with sound on. And don't stop short, the latter few minutes are my favorite.

Recommended by my friend Howard at crtl-i. Almost makes me want to be an architect again . . . .

While going through ages of old online bookmarks, came across an amazing Flash inspiration: computer scientist Jared Tarbell. An avid promoter of using computer code and mathematics to generate computer art, his work boils down to elaborate lines of code, written so intricately that he turns basic graphical elements into complex geometries and animations. Beginning with an algorithmic goal, he finely tunes each program with the aim of specific results, but also allows his methodology to drift off target and produce unexpected discoveries. Additionally, majority of his work is open source, encouraging all to experiment and learn from his code.
Take a look at examples below of Jared's work, and also be sure to visit his two sites:
Complexification (where the projects below are pulled from)
Levitated (more animation/motion work, also a few current updates)
Sniff is an interactive installation by Karolina Sobecka with software development by Jim George. The project explores the idea of a moment of engagement through a computer generated dog that is programmed to interpret a viewers movements (ex: aggressive vs friendly) and respond with according behavior.
