Julie Krakowski

One collection pulls from the uncontrolled nature of rust, creating an ambiguous play between fashion and trash, change and sublimation. Alexa Meade
By Karey in Art, Artist, Installation, Washington DCWashington, DC based installation artist Alexa Meade has a very unique and interesting approach to her acrylic painting. Instead of painting on canvas, she paints on people! Meade applies acrylic paint directly on her subjects making them appear to be a part of the painting. This innovative approach stems from her background in political communications, in which she has a strong interest in the tensions between perception and reality. Meade's installations use paint on three dimensional surfaces of found objects, live models, and architectural spaces to create a perceptual shift in how we experience and interpret spatial relationships. When asked about her thought process by My Modern Metropolis, she says:
I paint representational portraits directly on top of the people I am representing. The models are transformed into embodiments of the artist's interpretation of their essence. When captured on film, the living, breathing people underneath the paint disappear, overshadowed by the masks of themselves.

Jonathan Harris

Harris is know for creating projects that combine elements of computer science, anthropology, visual art, and storytelling to primarily visualize human relationships with each other and technology. Kevin Cooley
