New Work: Blue Orchid Cleaners

By Karey in Web, byK

This morning launched the new website for Arlington based Blue Orchid Cleaners. The site is full Flash while utilizing both SWFFit and SWFAddress. The design and primary goal of the site was to utilize the existing logo and incorporate images of the store's newly designed interior. Blue Orchid prides themselves on their modern and welcoming environment, and wanted the website to reflect their business attitude and friendly atmosphere. Store images are used as a secondary menu option on the home page to give site visitors a preview into the content and invite people to learn more. Simple transitions and creative details such as the specials' sticker and hanger menu give the site an intimate appeal while tying into the overall theme.

Check out the site at: www.blueorchidcleaners.com
(be sure to roll over the sticker!)

Fabric Sculpture Series 2, External tumours, 2007:

rowan-mersh-01

Image about taken from Fabric Sculpture Series 2, in which Mersh writes:

Fundamentally tumours are caused by an accumulation of mutations within the DNA of cells that lead to their uncontrolled division, and subsequently the abnormal growth of tissue. Series 2 was primarily derived from notions of such cell mutations. My resulting desire was such that the sculptures themselves appear an integral part of the female form, irreparable distorting physical appearance; As External Tumours their application to the body seamless as if they were bound, grown and shaped by time.
